Refine Your Golf In The Notorious Golf Valley -Mijas Golf Villas
|
The Mijas Golf Resort is located just half an hours drive from San Juan airport. Take the Fuengirola Coin turn off from the motorway and follow the road named Camino Viejo de Coin. The course is about 3 and a half kilometers from the motorway.
Mijas Golf Resort has made a great effort to comply with the needs of its many players who desires to play golf in Malaga on the Costa del Sol, and to that end, the course includes all amenities. There is a practice area, buggy hire, manual and electric trolleys, putting green, places to get a drink and a bite to eat, shop, changing rooms, bathing facilities and parking facilities. Furthermore, running throughout the grounds, there are places to buy water and other drinks plus toilets. There is furthermore the opportunity to participate in golf technique classes.
Mijas Golf Resort offers two Golf Courses:
Los Olivos founded in 1983/84 & Los Lagos founded in 1976. Both courses are designed by Robert Trent Senior. The main thing that distinguishes Los Olivos from Los Lagos is the abundance of trees - hence the name - and its smaller size, as well as fewer water hazards. The greens are smaller, undulating and well defended. Although both are created by the same designer, there is beyond doubt interesting contrasts between the two golf courses: if Los Lagos are based on hazards of water and sand, Los Olivos is strategic narrow tree lined fairways and elevated greens. Generally speaking the course caters for the precision golfer rather than the big hitter.
Los Lagos is a ground course with wide fairways and quite a few trees hazards, but is defended by many bunkers and nine lakes, from which the course gets its name and which easily trap the ball. It is a course with soft movement and large greens. You could say that the American designer wanted to present a course especially for beginners, but simultaneously, it can present a challenge for the best golfers. One of "Los Lagos" most characteristic and demanding holes is the par 5 thirteenth. Seen from the elevated tees it looks deceptively easy but at the approach to the green there is water left and right, also watch out for the slope as even a good shot is in danger of sending the ball into the water. The 5th a 571 meter monster, is also "interesting". The course is nearly free of rough and is effectively flat except for a slight incline up the 18th hole.
There is an outstanding selection of dining possibilities and bars within the golf resort, whilst the nearby town of Fuengirola also offers a range of restaurants, along with a cinema and various shops.
The beautiful white pueblo of Mijas, famous for its donkey-drawn taxis, is placed high on the top of the mountains with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean coastline and a number of municipalities of the Costa del Sol below. Within just a ten minute drive you will find some of the best rated beaches you can imagine, offering you the perfect setting for peace and relaxation.
In between golfing there is no need to be bored as the Malaga area offers more sightseeing than you can possibly manage & your Mijas Golf Villa offer comfortable relaxation by the pool.
